Child or Adolescent Therapy
Providing clinical and therapeutic services for child thru adolescence
Service Description
I utilize what is most commonly referred to as a client-centered approach. This clinical and evaluative mindset is incorporated so as to establish connections with your child. These connections are a critical component to achieving potential positive outcomes. Research within the field of trauma, neurology, psychiatry, and pediatric medicine overwhelmingly supports that "every time we connect with our child his/her brain gets flooded with feel-good hormones and builds or strengthens millions of neuropathways making it easier for them to regulate, empathize, create, and make good decisions". Play is a foundational component to the ability of a child to not only demonstrate lessons, solve problems, and ultimately integrate life's experiences, it is also the mode by which a child reduces stress, establishes relationships, and learns the skills to thrive. It is important to remember that the definition of thrive is a unique concept to each member of the family as well as the family unit as a whole. As such, my role will also extend into family functioning as it is incumbent upon us to be ever mindful that we all are to be active participants in the treatment of emotional, behavioral, and/or mental health needs. Child and family therapy is a learning process to better understand the existing feelings, thoughts, and actions of all. This triangular relationship is a core approach of cognitive-behavioral therapy. My expertise in the field of trauma recovery enables me to translate the language used by trauma so as to effectively support you and your family.
